Living a healthy
lifestyle involves making choices everyday; the first thing
that comes to mind in regards to health is food or exercise.
Certainly these are 2 important pieces to being healthy,
although there are other things you need to work at everyday as
well. Here are 4 tips for living a healthy lifestyle and
enjoying your life more.
First of all, when you get up in the
morning, drink some orange juice with added calcium and take
your multi vitamin, this combination will help build your
immune system, lower your blood pressure and help prevent
cancer. Next eat a heart healthy 7 gram cereal and throw some
fruit on it and if you drink coffee use milk instead of cream.
Finally when you brush your teeth, drink 8 oz. of water, you’re
now ready to face the day.
If you lead a hectic life you need to fill
in your lack of nutrition with healthy snacks. Take an apple to
work. Eat a healthy salad with vegetables and drink lots of
water or decaf tea during the day. Anytime you can, eat wheat
over white, for example Wheat bread and wheat crust. Eat
smaller portions and more often to help keep your energy levels
up.
Depending on the type of job you have, you
should get up and move around, for example parking further away
from the front door to work and walking to lunch if possible
and even taking a short 10 minute walk after lunch.
Periodically do some short breathing exercises to keep your
mind clear, these are all things that can reduce your stress
level during the day.
Take some "me" time and
do at least one thing you enjoy. It doesn't have to be a 2 hour
movie, if you like a certain musical performer take 5 minutes
and play your favorite song. Call and talk to your mom or best
friend. Watch a comedy on t.v. Anything that is relaxing and
meaningful to you.
Sleep is one of the most important things
you can do to promote living a healthy lifestyle. Use a quality
pillow and mattress. If yours are old replace them. Don't drink
water after 8:00 p.m. this lessens the urge of getting up in
the middle of the night, several times, to go to the bathroom.
During the day drink lots of water to keep hydrated, but not as
much in the evening.
In summary start your day by eating right,
move around and keep as active as possible during the daytime,
take some me time throughout to keep your mind clear, and get a
good nights sleep. These are 4 tips anyone can do to help live
