If you work outside of the home you are faced with choices everyday on what you are going to
eat and eating on the run does not always allow for you to make healthy choices. If you are like many people, even if you work at home you are
busy, and do not always get to eat 3 healthy meals everyday. To make up for that you need to eat healthy snacks.
Here are 5 healthy choices to help you get through your day easily and healthily.
As a general rule avoid sugar whenever possible during the day. Many processed snack foods contain high amounts of fructose which are not
healthy. A better choice is to eat fruit as much as possible. Strawberries, blueberries, cherries, watermelon slices, or maybe an apple will help
with any sugar cravings you may have.
Apple slices are a great snack. Adding a little peanut butter to them doesn't hurt your energy level either.
You can cut them and get them ready the night before. Put them in a bag and throw them in the refrigerator and then you can grab it on your
way out of the door in the morning...you have made a healthy choice your body will thank you later in the day.
If you feel like you need a boost and something to chew on look for healthy chips like soy chips instead of regular potato chips. You can get
good protein from soy chips.
Yogurt and cheese make for good snacks as well. Cubes of cheese are easy to pack and can
provide a good variety to help you keep from getting bored eating the same thing over and over.
Other quick snacks that are easy to take along could be trail mix, energy bars, and vegetables. Carrots, celery with peanut butter, and other
vegetables that you enjoy are easy to throw in a bag and take along with you.
One of the keys to making healthy choices is to eat several times a day. Healthy snacks help you do that. You do not need a lot of time to sit
down for a meal with any of these snacks and they are easy to prepare. They also provide you with a nice bit of variety by taking along something
different everyday. You just need to make sure you have them ready in the morning so you have no excuse for not taking them with you when you
leave everyday.
