Surgery Procedures

RK (Radial keratotomy)

Using a sharp knife incisions or cuts are made at the peripheral cornea to relax and flatten the central cornea

PRK

Using Excimer laser the surface of the cornea is reshaped

LASIK

Using Microkeratome a thin surface flap of the cornea is created to expose underlying tissues. Then Excimer laser is used to reshape the cornea.

Intacs

A tiny incision is made on the top of the cornea and intacs corneal rings are inserted to reshape the cornea. No needles or injections are required. Only eye drops are used for anesthesia.

LTK Holmium

YAG laser is used to make 8 simultaneous laser spots in the peripheral cornea and 8 more laser spots just outside the first treatment zone. The procedure is non-contact, that is, only the laser beam touches the eye. No cutting or removal of tissue occurs.

Phatik IOL

A thin intraocular lens implant is placed in the eye without removing the natural lens of the eye. At present, phakic IOLs are being studied which are implanted both in front of, and just behind, the iris of the eye. At present, clinical trials are going on to determine efficacy and safety.

CLR

The natural lens of the eye is removed and an intraocular lens (IOL) is implanted. The procedure is essentially the same as a cataract operation with lens implant, however, in this case, the procedure is completed prior to cataract development for the refractive advantage.

LRI

First anesthetic drops are used to numb the eye.   Incisions are made on the far peripheral aspect of the cornea (the limbus) resulting in a cornea that is more round.
