5. What is Dosa?
Dosa or Indian Pancake is well known in most
part of the world. Many Indian restaurants world over have been
selling them to customers delight.
In many parts of US and UK, for example,
there are shops which sell the batter to make South Indian
Pancake or Dosa.
The Laborious Process Made
Easy
Making the batter is a laborious process and
requires planning. If you want to eat the dosa today, you need
to plan for it a day in advance. You need to soak three cups of
rice and one cup of lentils separately in two containers.
You need to soak the rice overnight and the lentils a
couple of hours before grinding. You grind the lentils
first, and after it is mashed to a paste, you need to keep
sprinkling a little water and continue grinding it until
it is soft and fluffy. You grind the rice (not as much of a
paste as the lentils). You mix both the rice and dal paste and
grind again after adding a little bit of salt. Leave the
batter aside overnight and let it fermant. The next
day you can make dosa and eat it.
Whew!!!!!!!!!
That is a lot of work. And you cannot have
the pancake whenever you feel the urge for it.
So here is our solution. Rukmini, a 78 year
old grand mother, has found a way out for busy moms, dads, guys
and gals who have no time to spend in the kitchen.
Rukmini's Ready To Make Pancake Mix
Rukmini makes a dry powder, a mixture of
rice, dal and a few other ingredients to add to the flavor. All
you need to do is to take the required quantity of the flour in
a bowl, mix a little water and make the pancakes.
The flour can be stored for six months. The
flour stays fresh even without refrigiration but you can keep
it in the fridge to make it last longer.
To make sure you get it as fresh as the day
it is made, the mix is packed carefully on the day
you order.
How much would you pay for all this? A dosa
in an Indian resturant in the US costs about $30. But
Rukmini's Ready To Make Pancake Mix is
available just for $5 (plus S/H).
Yes, that is $5 plus shipping and handling
($70 for 30 + dosas)
And for 2 lbs it is better!! $71 ($11 +
60)
This 1 lbs pack can make you 30 + dosas
(depending on the size of the dosa).
And that's not all. You also get her yummy
chutney mix. Just mix it in water and you will get the best
side dish you can have for your dosas. Enjoy the meal :-)
