Chickpea Salad
Kadalai Paruppu chundal
Ingredients
Chickpea 250 gm
Oil 2 spoons
coconut (grated) 1/2 cup
lemon juice 1 spoon
salt to taste
Cook the chick pea in a pressure cooker or oven.
Take a spoonful of oil in a shallow pan.
Pop some mustard and other ingredients for seasoning. [link for seasoning]
Add the cooked chickpea. Add grated coconut. Add salt to taste.
Add a spoonful of lemon juice.
Now the chickpea chundal is ready to eat.
This chickpea chundal is very much part of the celebration of nine nights in Tamil Nadu.
In Tamil Nadu during the month of November, the Navrathri - a festival of nine nights - is celebrated. Houses are decorated and a set of
steps are arranged using the availabel furniture at home. All the dolls, statues of gods and other decorative pieces are arranged on these
steps. People visit each others houses and they are given betel leaves, betel nuts, bananas and this chick pea chundal.
So the chickpea chundal can keep in celebration mood and healthy.
