UGC NET Reading Comprehension

Revised Paper I

Sample Questions

There are some changes in the pattern of UGC NET SLET Paper I question paper.

You can get the revised paper pattern here.

One of the important changes is the Reading Comprehension passage. You will be given a passage to read. You have to answer questions based on the passage.

I am going to give you practice with a sample passage. The passage you get can be on any general topic. The passage need not be based on your PG specialization.

How do you prepare for this?

You need to develop a good reading habit. You need to read newspapers, magazines, books on topics you are interested in. As you read you should pause and check your understanding of the passage. You should be able to understand the details of the passage.

Whenever you read something, you should be able to do the following:

1. Read the lines

2. Read between the lines

3. Read beyond the lines

That is you should be able to understand the implied meanings. You should be able to put together two facts or opinions given in the passage and arrive at an interpretation. You should be able to analyze and arrive at conclusions, etc.
